*This workshop will be offered in English, with the option to communicate with Natalie in French.
The silver lining to stay-at-home measures this season is that gardening has become a favourite pass time for many. The good news continues – now that you have invested in your garden, your garden will give back to you. Beyond the literal fruits of your labour, your garden’s natural cycles are inherently expansive and recycling. So next season, your garden will cost less $$$ and yield more ó ó ó.
Rather than purchasing a whole load of new compost next spring, lay down fallen leaves and plant matter on your garden bed to return nutrients to the soil through the natural process of decomposition. Rather than buying a whole new selection of seeds, collect the seeds of the plants you have grown this season. And while you’re at it, spread the love to your friends!
To help you with learning the craft of seed saving, Maison Tucker House is hosting its annual Seed Saving Workshop! During this workshop, Nathalie Mathieu, our expert gardener, will be sharing her knowledge on preserving heritage seeds in small gardens. You will learn the easiest vegetable to save seeds from and the best way to do it. This will enable you to save money while preserving delicious and beautifully adapted varieties.
This event will take place on Sunday, October 11 from 1:00 to 3:00.
Cost: $15 per participant or family
Tucker House address: 1731 Tucker Road, Rockland, Ontario
