Pollinators
Pollinator week of the Grow Green Camps at Tucker House is filled with educational crafts and activities related to the pollinators frequently seen on our grounds. In the morning, campers spend time on the property and in the forest doing scavenger hunts. They will spot bees, habitats of certain pollinators, and a variety of colorful plants attracting our pollinators. To cool off in the afternoon, once or twice a week, the campers go for a swim in our own pool, under the supervision of a certified lifeguard.
Creativity is important during Pollinator camp! Children will have many activities to explore while learning that bees not only need flowers, but also a place to rest and hydrate. They may create butterfly life cycles with bits of nature they find themselves during their walk, get their hands dirty making seed bombs or build their own bee hotel! We try to end the week with a guest to discuss the theme.
The children will go home with a better knowledge of the fascinating world of pollinators but also with a newly found respect for nature around us.
A full week spent outdoors (no cell phones!), making new friends and discovering how beautiful our universe is. That is why campers love the Grow Green Camps at Tucker House!

Mushroom & Forest
Mushroom and forest week of the Grow Green Camps at Tucker House allows the campers to discover the wonderful and mysterious world of fungi! Our days start with scavenger hunts which give us an opportunity to appreciate the beauty found in our forest and gardens. To cool off in the afternoon, once or twice a week, the campers go for a swim in our own pool, under the supervision of a certified lifeguard
Mushroom creativity abounds. From dissection to spore print experiment to identification cards, so much to learn and appreciate. Mushrooms have such funny names… and our ‘name the fungi competition’ certainly brings a lot of laughter. On the last day of camp, we try to invite a special guest who will share more mycology amazing facts.
The children will go home with a better knowledge of the mysterious world of the forest and its connection to mushroom but also with a newly found respect for life around us.
