Welcome to Maison Tucker House! We are a renewal, sustainability, and education space located in Clarence-Rockland, just outside of Ottawa.  Our mission is to inspire sustainable actions through connection to the land to foster community. We do this by hosting a variety of workshops and programs across our historical home, various gardens, and forest.

Land Acknowledgement/History

Tucker House is situated and works on the traditional unceded, unsurrendered territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin People. The Algonquin People have inhabited and cared for these lands for generations before the Tucker Family moved to the area. We take this time to show our gratitude and respect to the original Indigenous caretakers of the land, and to the land itself for all that it provides us: trees that give shade and provide shelter, water that flows through us, food that sustains us, and the paths that connect us. We embrace the responsibility to help build a sustainable future for all those that visit, volunteer, work, and enjoy Tucker House.

Program Philosophy

Tucker House aims to create spaces that build and welcome community. With that in mind, we have implemented fully bilingual programming, flexible indoor and outdoor spaces for various programs, gardens, and walkable forest paths. We hope to start engaging and building community spaces for local Indigenous peoples.

Current and Past Programs

Working with our local indigenous collaborators, we opened our Wellness and Recognition Garden. This is a space that honours Indigenous groups with the four sacred plants, cedar, sage, tobacco, and sweetgrass, other medicinal plants, a space for a sacred fire, and a teepee in a space that is open to the whole community.

Tucker House has also played host to numerous markets and workshops on beading, moccasin making, and bannock baking, and we are always open to new ideas. Please reach out to us here with any comments or suggestions director@maisontuckerhouse.ca
