About Maison Tucker House

Maison Tucker House is a community space rooted in nature, creativity, and environmental learning. Our outdoor grounds and gardens are an essential part of our programming, offering spaces for education, biodiversity, and community connection.

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Summer Landscape Labourer to help care for and enhance our outdoor garden spaces throughout the summer season.

Position Overview

The Landscape Labourer will support the upkeep, beautification, and ongoing care of the Maison Tucker House grounds, with a focus on three key gardens: our native garden, pollinator garden, and education garden.

This is an on-site, outdoor position involving physical work in a garden and landscape setting. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outside, appreciates nature, and takes pride in creating and maintaining beautiful, healthy green spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Weed, maintain, and care for garden beds and landscaped areas
  • Assist in planting, sowing, watering, and harvesting seasonal plants
  • Support the ongoing beautification of native, pollinator, and education gardens
  • Help maintain overall cleanliness and appearance of outdoor spaces
  • Use basic gardening tools and equipment safely and responsibly
  • Assist with light landscaping tasks such as mulching, soil preparation, and path upkeep
  • Support general grounds maintenance as needed
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a respectful, careful approach to plant care and outdoor work
  • Work collaboratively with the Maison Tucker House team to maintain welcoming outdoor environments

Qualifications

  • Interest in gardening, landscaping, ecology, or outdoor work
  • Comfortable performing physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team
  • Responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Willingness to learn basic gardening and landscaping techniques
  • Previous experience in gardening or landscaping is an asset but not required
  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset
