Day 6: Tea at Tucker House

Day 6 of 12 days of Christmas

Over the past few months, we’ve been busy piloting a new program called Tea at Tucker House in partnership with the Ottawa Community Foundation. Our goal was to create an accessible and affordable outing for seniors in and around our community. We successfully hosted 8 different seniors groups with about 20 participants each.

“Your scones are better than the Chateau Laurier’s! ”

– a Tea Participant

Groups spent about 2-3 hours on site and received a guided tour of the house. With the help of our local historians, participants not only learned about the history of the property, but also the surrounding community of Clarence-Rockland. And, of course, there was lots of time to indulge in unlimited tea, savory treats and sweet eats.

We, as staff, looked forward to hosting these events. Our guests were such a pleasure to host and share with us incredible stories from the past. We were able to learn, through their perspective, about development and the impact it has had on our environment.
